Currently it is estimated that about 17 million dogs in the United States are overweight and that 40% of all domestic felines are obese; these are staggering figures and the numbers continue to climb!  A groundbreaking 14-year study by Purina researchers showed that dogs fed to a lean or ideal body condition throughout their lives had a median life span of 1.8 years longer, and were considerably healthier, than their littermates.  Obesity can also cause serious and expensive health issues including, but not limited to, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, and hepatic lipidosis. The good news is that we are here to help your pets lose weight safely and effectively. If your pet is overweight or obese, our team will work with you to develop an individualized weight management plan that may give your dog or cat a new lease on life.  This plan would include a sensible exercise plan (yes, even for you fussy felines!) and a specially formulated diet that provides the necessary balance of protein, fiber, and fat for healthy weight loss and maintenance of lean muscle mass.  We will schedule free follow-ups to monitor progress and make adjustments as needed, and will also make it fun with a variety of incentives along the way!
