The Holistic Examination

At Bowman Animal Hospital, our initial holistic exam integrates both Eastern and Western veterinary medicine. The first part of the appointment will be dedicated to getting your pet’s full history, focusing on symptoms, evaluating diet and discussing behavior.

Holistic Pet MedicineDuring the second half of the appointment, a complete “nose to tail” evaluation of your pet will be performed. If your pet has not had a full blood profile and urinalysis within the past month, we will need to do that as well. As part of the holistic evaluation, the veterinarian will evaluate your pet’s tongue, pulse and acupuncture points. When the results from both of these exams are combined, our doctor will have a comprehensive look at your pet’s current health.

Initial holistic exams are scheduled for one hour, so be prepared to spend some time with us. Don’t ever hesitate to ask questions; we realize that a lot of the medical terms and treatments discussed might be completely new to you. It is important that you understand everything that the doctor discusses and are comfortable with any recommendations that she might make regarding your pet’s health care.
